A Statement by David Clohessy of SNAP

For 25 years I’ve been the director of SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, the world’s oldest and largest support group for clergy abuse victims. We have more than 15,000 members across the globe in all denominations, including nuns, rabbis, bishops, and Protestant ministers. And we’ve helped victims, witnesses and whistleblowers in other institutional contexts too, like athletic programs and Scouting and summer camps.

I can’t recall ever seeing a policy anywhere that is more predator-friendly and self-serving than the Watchtower’s “two witnesses” rule. On its face, it is dangerous and callous. If any crime is likely to have no witnesses, it is child sexual abuse. If the law enforcement community adopted this rule only a handful of child predators would be charged, convicted and imprisoned every year.

One wonders if this rule means that Jehovah’s Witness officials do nothing even when they hear about another JW official admitting to molesting kids.

This policy endangers kids and invites predators. It protects only one small group – the Jehovah’s Witness hierarchy. Even then, it protects them only in the short-term. Thankfully, more victims are finding the strength to report child sex crimes, more police are investigating them, more prosecutors are prosecuting them, and more lawyers are suing them.

As Martin Luther King said “No lie lives forever” and “The moral arc of the universe is long, but it bends towards justice.”

This rule will be revoked someday. The only question is how much moral authority and members will the Jehovah’s Witnesses have squandered and alienated – and how many kids and families will be devastated in the meantime.

Outside of the Jehovah’s Witness hierarchy, virtually every other adult believes that we should all call police if we see or suspect child sex crimes. (Not everyone does this, of course. But nearly everyone believes this is the right course of action.) But the JW hierarchy is wrong on both fronts – policy and performance, belief and behavior.

The “two witnesses” rule is a stunningly heartless and reckless policy that is guaranteed to cause more heinous crimes against children.

General health after learning TTATT

4 months ago i was conducting the watchtower study along with a long list of responsibilities that come with being an elder in a very goofy congregation.

during this time my health was going down hill.

i've always had a low blood pressure,(102/65 or abouts) but for the past year it had creeped up to 135/90 range.. so 2 months ago after learning ttatt, i'm still considered an elder because the brothers won't let me step down, but i haven't done anything in that time except comment once at a meeting a few weeks ago.

I used to get debilitating migraines once every 6 weeks or so and a list of medications to combat them. Since divorcing my asshole ex husband and not once stepping into a KH for 7 years I haven't had one since and tossed all the prescriptions.

I believe something about the Kelso Group was posted on the forum several weeks ago and a heated debate ensued about "official" law firms on the ARC "list".
The page linked says this too, "This is not the official website for the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses into Child Sexual Abuse. The website is hosted by Peter Kelso, a private solicitor with special interest in victims of abuse."

hello people.. i'm tired and a bit sick at the moment but i can't let anyone think that this is going to go away.... i am able to tell you a few things in order to prevent any confusion in the minds of those who are thinking that nothing will come of this arc;that nothing will effect the wtbts in america and other places.. i have been there and given my testimony.

helen milroy and her assistants were there along with another group of people who are there to lend assistance if you crack up at any time during or after the hearing.

i did not crack up but can see how this happens.. security is tight and anonymity is sacred to them as they want to protect all who come forward.

jan used a famous scientist to garner misleading support for creation, quoting rama singh as saying "the opposition to evolution goes beyond religious fundamentalism and includes a great many people from educated sections of the population.

2015 jan p.3) whilst the quote is accurate, it misrepresents singh's intention.

singh continues in the same paragraph, "there are several reasons why facts of evolution are not easily comprehensible by the general masses.

i have been reading in facebook that there is a new society's order for destroying all documents concerning cases of pedophilia in all congregations.

is it true that the elders have received such an order?
